Paid gigs are the best. I love doing what I love and it’s even better getting paid for it.
If you remember, Red Room Effect was a part of my last post… the spring concert at my college. Well, Red Room Effect loved my photos so much, Eric, the lead, contacted me asking to shoot their album release party and said he’d pay me. Obviously I jumped at that chance and rearranged my schedule to make the time for it (also shout out to my boyfriend for rearranging his and taking me).
The party was at the James Street Gastropub and Speakeasy in Pittsburgh and wasn’t all that hard to find. We got there and met up with a friend, who is dating Matt of Red Room Effect, before meeting up with Eric. I got a few shots of Eric with friends and fans as well as took some candids of the crowd throughout the night.
Brachtopus was the first band and they were actually pretty cool! Nick, of Red Room Effect, took the stage with them for a while. I ran the room with Eric for a bit during their set but still got some sick shots! They’ve got a pretty reggae sound to them so check them out if you’re into that!
Red Room Effect was next up, with an hour and a half set. I was taking photos for most of the set, on and off stage. It was cool to be able to walk anywhere and take photos from wherever I wanted to. I don’t get to do that too often. I got a few from behind John, the drummer, of the band and the crowd which was dope. They put on a great show and the crowd rocked their socks off the entire time.
Last up was The Last Drop, another local Pittsburgh band. Their Facebook says they have a soul sound to them, and I agree! However, I also kind of got a kind of ska vibe from them as well. They were good too! My boyfriend and I had to leave halfway through the set though so we didn’t get to see a lot of it. But while I was there, I got some cool shots of them, featured below.
Overall, it was a great night and I am still stoked that I got the opportunity to shoot it.
All bands’ Facebook pages are linked above if you want to check them out.
